mohou mít lineární i nelineární charakter. |

This dissertation deals with intellectual capital that is increasingly becoming a vital factor in a region?s development. However, the mechanism of the transformation of the intellectual capital into regional economic growth remains unclear. This dissertation estimates the efficiency of the intellectual capital of European regions with related to their economic growth. The results suggest that regions in new Member states turn their intellectual capital into economic growth more efficiently than those in the EU-15, especially owing to the weak initial level of intellectual capital. This dissertation also demonstrates that the structure of regional intelellectual capital is highly complex and spatially dependent. The components of regional intellectual capital are strongly dependent on each other. Such relationships can have both linear and nonlinear character. One of the ways to investigate the tructure is to use a geographic selforganizing map. This method is used to visualize and study thirteen spatially homogenous clusters present in the European regional intellectual capital. |
