Abstrakt:
The aim of the bachelor paper is to analyse novels of well-known authors J. D. Salinger and Charles Bukowski. Special emphasis is placed on teenage-hood and the two main novels The Catcher in the Rye and Ham on Rye.
In order to provide background for the analysis, the theoretical part includes a brief outline of the concept of young adults, young adult literature and its development while the next part of the paper deals with gender issues and the main authors mentioned above. The main practical part of the paper provides a detailed comparative analysis of family and peer relationships, specifics of the language, sexuality, education and school, violence and personal problems that connect or distinguish the above mentioned novels.
